So, this one was my contribution to [info]remixredux08. I don't think that the original author has the original story up yet (I'm working on it!), but I do think this stands well enough on its own. She seems to really like my interpretation, and I enjoyed writing it very much, so overall I'm quite pleased. I have some meta-y thoughts I'd like to go on about, but I've got about 14,000 things to do today, so I think meta will have to wait. :)

Title: A Second Breath (The Jacob's Ladder Remix)
Author: [info]justholdstill

Fandom: Harry Potter
Pairing: Luna Lovegood/Neville Longbottom
Rating: NC-17
Disclaimer: All belongs to Jo. Sadly.
Original story: A Second Breath by [info]loony4lupin

This is that post-DH Snape fic I talked about; originally intended to be a sort of "five people Severus Snape met in heaven" sort of deal, but it turned out very differently, not at all like I intended it to. Not sure if it works, but I do like some of it. :)

Title: Field Below
Author: [info]justholdstill
Rating: PG-13
Warnings: Big, fat DH spoilers
Words: 1204
Summary: Somewhere behind him the world has juddered to a stop and begun again, but he knows none of it. When he comes back to himself, it's to the clacking heartbeat of a train with no memory of the station, to the softly falling snow slipping past the grimy compartment windows, and the vague notion that he's got somewhere to be.

A/N: Because everyone else has been taking care of the others and their afterlives, and because I thought it only right that Snape should speak his piece too. Title borrowed from the Regina Spektor song of the same name. Concrit welcome.

I did it. I sat down last night and finished the fic I've been working on and angsting over for the better part of two years in under three hours. Here it is, not half as good as I think it is. I can't bear to look at it anymore, but it is my baby, and I'm so glad to be able to show it to you all now.

Title: Birds Fly South
Author: [info]justholdstill
Pairing(s): Harry/Ron/Hermione, Harry/Ron
Rating: R
Words: 4,737
Summary: Nothing, now, she has learned, is entirely platonic. It began, as far as she can remember, with a night out at the pub. A party, just like in the old days (except the holes between them where other men and women should stand, holes in the world); school chums, drunken wizards sending sparks out of the end of their wands and accidentally setting fire to one of the tables, swaying where they stand with glasses raised high in memory. Three months from the end of the war they’re already forgetting names, but they sing loud and strong and with tears in their eyes, and if this is the best they can do for their fallen comrades then Hermione thinks she understands.

Down in the village, the bells of the church are ringing, selfish little peals of laughter that trill and croon to themselves across a white morning. They wake her, not enough that she swims up out of sleep entirely, but still the clamour and light of the world stirring come to her muted and facetious as if half-dreamed. )

In celebration of the triumphant return of [info]pornish_pixies, I come bearing porn. Het porn, so it's slightly incongruous, but what the hell. Hermione is 16 (and therefore underage) in this fic, but the crowning glory is that I wrote it when I was sixteen (and thus underage myself), so I felt that giving it it's first public airing now was an appropriate thing to do. :)

Title: Big Time Sensuality
Author: [info]justholdstill
Pairing: Hermione/Snape
Rating: NC-17
Summary: Snape offers to teach Hermione a few things that the curriculum doesn't exactly cover.
Warnings: Underage Sex, very light bondage, teacher/student relationship
A/N: Pure, unabashed porn. No plot whatsoever, though I am particularly proud of the detail I put into thinking up the potions. Certainly not the smuttiest thing I've written, but probably the smuttiest thing I've let you guys see. :) Also, points to me for using four different words for "arse" within a paragraph. Title taken from Bjork's song of the same name.

“Your essay on the properties and uses of the famed Elysian Orchid, Miss Granger.” Snape plucked a scroll from the top of the pile and handed it to her. “Well done, even for you.” She looked it over, noting how few red marks there were, and then tipped her head to the side, looking questioningly at him. It was unlike him to be complimentary, even in flirtation – if, god help her, flirting was what they were doing. “Well done,” he continued, “but for one – rather egregious – oversight.” )

*saunters away for a cigarette*

Hope I've made my fellow HG/SS fans happy. ;)

Title: Barring Accidents
Author: [info]justholdstill
Pairing: Irwin/Dakin
Rating: R
Disclaimer: Really, really don’t own. If I did, Scripps would be tied to my bed.
Warnings: mentions of slashy sex, but nothing terribly explicit
Summary What if Dakin and Irwin really had got together after Hector’s death? Dakin tries to teach History a lesson, but History ends up teaching him.

History, in its making, runs quietly on as it has always done – the hands of the clock move, things change, they stay the same – but, Dakin has discovered, it is possible to put your foot out and trip History up a little, not enough to make him fall, or to turn round and go the other way, but enough to make him stumble and then carry on. )

So it's two thirty in the morning, and I'm awake because one of the disadvantages of living across from a lovely park is that on weekends it is an ideal place for drunken yahoos to do their drunken yahoo-ing. One of the advantages of living across from the park is that I get a perverse pleasure from calling the police on drunken yahoos having fisticuffs in front of my window.
So anyway. I don't know why late = filth (poetic filth, but it's still very porny), but it does. That, and I wanted Sally to have something that would melt her pants off first thing in the morning.
Please to be ignoring the fact that I can't write anything other than H/D anymore. :P

Title: No Suprises (five ways Harry Potter never told Draco Malfoy he loved him)
Author: [info]justholdstill
Pairing: Harry/Draco
Rating: NC-17
Words: 998
Warnings: Underage Sex (but only in the first section), slightly AU
Summary: It’s the middle of a long July, just when the heat is the worst, when in the dusk the cicadas call and the fireflies spark across the swimming hole, when the air shimmers with unseen humidity and smells sweet and cloying, the result of too many flowers withering in a dry spell. Harry’s two weeks from being eighteen, which makes him too young to be doing this – too young to be drunk on cheap champagne stolen from the back of Mrs. Weasley’s larder, and too young to be sucking off Draco Malfoy under the lilac bush in the lane.

He doesn’t think Draco hates him, exactly, but Harry also doesn’t think Draco likes him enough for them to be doing what they’re doing. )

Probably no-one will care about this but the [info]_amortentia_ gang, but just in case you're interested:

Title: How to Disappear Completely
Author: [info]justholdstill
Pairing/Characters: Draco/Harry, Seamus, Lily, James, OFC
Rating: PG
Summary On a practise mission during Auror training, Harry gets hit by a curse that sends him into another world, where he meets some people he really wasn't expecting to meet.
A/N: Written for the RP [info]_amortentia_, but should make sense to the average reader. Follows Red Sky At Morning.

It would, Harry later thought, probably have gone better if he hadn’t slept in that morning, if he hadn’t been tired and his reflexes slow. It would have been better if he’d actually taken a moment to brush his hair, because it might have been more unruly than ever, and he would have been late, and missed the portkey – he would have had a moment to tie his shoes properly, so that he didn’t trip over them dodging a hex and catch a curse right between the shoulderblades. If he hadn’t woken in the night he would have been able to remember a shield spell, or a counter-curse, or responded with a hex of his own, or done any number of things that would have ended with him being anywhere but here…wherever here was. )

For Draco's reaction to Harry going missing, click here, and revel in [info]aurieal's genius. Just...try not to weep all over your keyboards. :D

Let's see...I've had this journal now for (*has to go look*) not quite two years, and I am only just now reaching my two-hundredth post, which would be this one, obviously.
I wanted to have something ficcish, to celebrate, but me being me and therefore terminally unable to finish anything, I decided to bring you odds and ends of a few of my various WIPs, and a bit of something that got abandoned in the attempt.
Anyway.

Now We Are Two

Bits of a not-really-gen-not-quite-shippy thing with Ron and Ginny I began long, long ago. War-era. Harry and Hermione have died, and Ron and Ginny are stuck in hiding together in a wee little cottage somewhere in Scotland. This originally had a weird, incest-y feel to it, but once I figured out where it was going the tone resolved itself rather nicely. Heavy on the dialogue, which is unusual, for me.

There was a cat... )

Birds Fly South

This fic is the bane of my fandom existence. I've been working on it for more than a year, but I can't seem either to finish it or put it away. The subject matter is dear to my heart, and there just isn't enough realistic trio fic out there to suit my tastes. So slaving away it is.

Looking back, what she found most curious about her time in the blue house was... )

Islands

A saccharine James/Lily piece that never really got off the ground, though I thought it had some delicious lines.

He tries to understand, he does. )

The Jumping-Off Point of God

I'd not written slash in a while, and I wanted to do something unexpected with a character I'd not written much before, and I ended up with a Harry/Neville that takes place in two different times, first during the war, when Neville and Harry have a thing, and second post-war, when Harry's died and Neville's living with Hermione, who's gone a bit mad. This fic does things I don't expect it to, sometimes, but I think it's going to be beautiful when it's done.

The longer he knows her, it seems, the more and more beautiful she seems to become. )

Well, I'm off to my creative writing class. Toodles! ♥

I finished a fic today. Perversely, it was not one of my many WIPs. No, it was for my much-beloved RP [info]_amortentia_. And it's H/D. *facepalm*
Still, read on if you will, as I think it will stand alone. It's not so artsy as other fics I've done, but I'm just so pleased to have accomplished something that I feel I have to post.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY [info]pansydarkbloom!!!!!
*sings* Happy Birthday to you, Happy Birthday to you!
Here, as promised, is the birthday fic!(A little bit later than I intended, but still on time - yay me!) I figured Maraudercest would make anyone happy. But first, you must suffer through a few words from yours truly.
Okay. You are probably one of my best friends in fandom, and it's a little bit ridiculous at times how similar we are. Because of that I always enjoy talking to you. Also, I think you are so very talented, and that there's not enough of your fic around lately. (Hint, hint). Anyway, I tend to lose any eloquence I might previously have posessed when attempting to bestow praise, so suffice it to say that I wish you the happiest and most fun of birthdays. :)
(Er...the fic itself isn't as fluffy (or as good) as I would have liked. Still, it's the thought that counts...right? I hope you like it.)

One Remus Lupin seems to have taken up residence in my brain. Don't get me wrong, I'm awfully fond of the fellow, but as a muse he's tempermental and given to making strange requests. He has me getting out of bed at all hours of the morning to write het of all things, and neglecting my other 3 WIPs which are nearly bloody done! Still, I wrote this in under two hours, which I think has to be some sort of personal record, and I'm actually quite proud of it.

Have done a wealth of completing and re-editing in the past few days, so there should be a slow trickle of fics/drabbles/poems in the next few days (and I am so godawfully slow about it). To begin, a Harry/Draco poem that I'm not at all sure if I like. It's free-form, but I think I might later change it to have some kind of rhyme scheme. Oh, and it's a bit long. Not epic, but long just the same.
